What Is Flame-Resistant (FR) Construction?

Flame-resistant (FR) construction means the garment is made using materials and construction methods designed to help resist ignition and self-extinguish shortly after the source of ignition is removed. This helps reduce the spread of flames and may minimize the severity of burn injuries.

FR clothing is not fireproof. Prolonged or direct exposure to flames, molten metal, sparks, slag, or other high-heat sources can still damage the garment and may result in burns.

FR garments are designed to provide an added level of protection and should always be worn as part of a complete workplace safety program and in accordance with your employer's safety requirements.
